UX PROCESS, MOBILE CHECKOUT, HIRING CHALLENGE
End-to-end UX process, benchmark to tested prototype for a mobile checkout, built solo in 5 days

context
This was the final-round design challenge for a UX/UI role at Bridge. Candidates had 5 days (August 5 to 9, 2022) to take a mobile checkout journey from zero to a validated prototype: no existing brand, no existing research, no team to lean on. The brief: design the purchase flow for an online store, from product page to order confirmation, prioritizing the moment most stores get wrong, the checkout.
problems
No existing product, brand, or user base to reference, had to build the context from scratch
5-day deadline to complete a process that normally spans weeks
Needed to justify every decision to reviewers evaluating process, not just output
Checkout is the highest-friction, highest-drop-off point in any store, little room for guessing
process
1.Benchmark:
Audited the checkout flow of 10 online stores (Amazon, Shein, iFood, Americanas, Google Play, among others) to map what actually reduces friction, as fixed cart buttons, upfront shipping costs, review prompts, single-page checkout.
2.Persona & user journey:
Built a fictional store and a target persona to ground every decision in real intent, mapping her journey and expectations from product discovery to delivery.
3.Information architecture & userflow:
Structured the full site hierarchy: home, category, product, cart, login/signup, address, payment, confirmation, and mapped every decision branch (guest vs. login, payment method, address entry) before touching a screen.
4.Wireframes:
Tested layout priority on paper first, then translated into low-fi screens focused on hierarchy, clarity of tappable areas, and fixed CTA placement.
5.UI & prototype:
Built a color and type system, a saturated accent for a friendly, playful tone, tested against contrast minimums, and applied it across a working, testable prototype.

outcomes
Delivered a complete UX process, from competitive research to a testable UI, in 5 days, working solo
Hired by Bridge as a result of this challenge, out of a competitive selection process
Flagged remaining usability gaps for user testing before build, treated the prototype as a live, testable output, not the finish line
